Privacy Statement: 

The Association of British Transport & Engineering Museums (ABTEM) is a subject specialist network managed by a committee drawn from its members with funding from members subscriptions and from time to time by other agencies such as Arts Council England (ACE).

Its activities include:

  • Seminars, training and events
  • Networking opportunities
  • Dissemination of information and advice from third party sector partners through its blog site, web site and newsletter

Following the implementation of GDPR Data Protection legislation on 25 May 2018 this statement is intended to ensure ABTEM members and other attendees at its events and activities understand how and why we use any personal information. The association takes privacy seriously and will ensure that personal data is securely maintained. 

In order to undertake its activities ABTEM maintains personal data which may include email address, contact details, access requirements and dietary information to maintain membership records, promote its activities to potential participants and gain feedback and evaluation from attendees at events. This is done mainly via electronic means and includes a membership mailing list for newsletters and subscription renewals and event and seminar invitations.

The ABTEM membership form also reiterates our commitment to data protection and the association will always ensure that non-members attending events or activities have given permission for personal information to be retained. ABTEM will only keep personal data for as long as it is relevant to the purpose for which it was collected or for as long as required to keep it by law.

Who will ABTEM share your data with?

ABTEM will not share or sell personal information to a third party for marketing purposes and will only use information to send details about different ABTEM events and activities that members and others might be interested.

We will share personal data with a relevant authority if required to do so by law.


Legal rights:

GDPR provides certain rights, the most important being that members and others can withdraw their consent at any time. This can be done by:

  • Emailing the ABTEM Chairman: tim.abtem@gmail.com
  • Writing to ABTEM c/o British Motor Museum, Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warwickshire CV35 OBJ.

Details can be amended or updated at any time by using the same contacts. Members and other are also entitled to see any information ABTEM holds on them. If they wish to do this, please use the contact details already noted. 

This policy will be reviewed by the ABTEM Committee on an annual basis.
